World in Me
A lyrical picture book for four-to-eight-year-olds in which a child sees themself reflected in the magic of nature and discovers that all life is connected. Lush imagery and light verse invite young readers to explore a wide variety of human experiences, including emotions, weather, nature, the heavens, and time, to demonstrate the importance of empathy and stewardship of the earth and her creatures, including humanity. Follow a child, a raven, and an elf through the realms of nature. Each landscape, weather pattern, and creature they encounter shows them something about themselves. Emotions crash and settle like waves. Curiosity reaches out like the branches of a tree. Dreams root and fly. The World in Me celebrates the diversity of nature and our emotions and ties us to the natural world. Each expression of the child is as beautiful and important as the cycles of nature. Both are worthy of love and respect. AGES: 4 to 8 AUTHOR: Daria Tavoularis is an artist, writer, and priestess with a mystical connection to nature. She loves the interface of art and words, and the read-aloud connective nature of picture books. Daria received her BFA in studio art from the Cooper Union and her MFA from the University of British Columbia and has been a student of nature for as long as she can remember. She lives in Reno, Nevada. SELLING POINTS: . Empathy and Stewardship: younger generations learn the importance of these concepts for humanity in a climate that needs more of both. . Lush Illustrations: Created in a continuous panoramic format, Tavoularis' beautiful, original illustrations draw the reader into the main characters exploration of key concepts. .
