Designed to extract textures and subtle flavours from raw, natural ingredients, Emile Henry Mortar is heavy enough to offer an excellent stability. The sturdy pestle, with its birch wood handle offers a good grip, ergonomic handling, and fosters strength for grinding, crushing, mashing with confidence.
Made from ceramic, the interior of the bowl and the pestle head are slightly rough in order to grip the food and crush it more easily against the wall. Both are easy to wash; while the mortar bowl is dishwasher safe, the pestle might be washed with a wet sponge.
Also designed for its aesthetics, Emile Henry new Mortar sports a pretty matte black glaze that is non-porous, stain-proof and fits harmoniously in most kitchens. On the counter or displayed on shelves, it is remarkable and looks like a kitchen iconic utensil.
