Based on the Stanley 60 1/2, this is one of the most popular block plane. 1/8 in. thick O1 steel blade provides excellent edge retention. The adjustable mouth can close up to the blade when taking the finest of shavings or open up when taking coarse shavings. The blade is adjusted with a captive adjuster nut for precise control with minimal backlash. The blade is flat ground at 25° and sits bevel up in the body at 12° makes a 37° low cutting angle out of the box for planing end grain and general purpose work. Heavy gauge (3mm) Pro O1 Steel blade is more durable and provides a solid cut with minimal vibration. Ductile iron is far stronger and more resilient. Stress relieving metal ensures the machined casting will stay flat over time.
