Reusable bamboo tableware is one of the most eco-friendly options available. Almost all one-use paper plates go straight into landfill after use and unlike office paper and newsprint they cannot easily be recycled because they’re contaminated with food residue when used.
While sustainable forest management practices are increasing, much of the pulp used for paper including paper plates depends on virgin wood-based fibres. Plastic plates are even worse, taking up to 1,000 years to decompose in landfills.
