Double Sounds Dominoes is a simple, easy-to-play game designed to build basic phonemic awareness of double sounds, also known as ‘digraphs'. A digraph occurs when two letters come together to make one sound. Some double sounds are spelled the same but sound different, like ‘oo’ (as in moon) and ‘oo’ (as in book). However, some double sounds sound the same but are spelled differently, like ‘ey’ (as in monkey) and ‘ee’ (as in bee). There are a variety of ways to play with dominoes that can be more challenging for kids of different ages, but for beginners. A simple matching game will encourage observational skills and help develop communication and social skills.
