Dreadnoughtus, one of the largest terrestrial creatures ever to walk the Earth, was a titanic dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period. Its name, meaning 'fears nothing,' aptly reflects its colossal size and presumed status as virtually invulnerable to predators.
Estimates suggest that Dreadnoughtus could have reached lengths of up to 26 meters and weighed about 65 tons, equivalent to the weight of about a dozen African elephants.
What's remarkable is that fossils of Dreadnoughtus suggest they were not even fully grown. These gigantic herbivores had long necks which they likely used to reach high vegetation, making them predominant grazers of their time. Their enormous size and power continue to fascinate paleontologists and dinosaur enthusiasts alike.
